Next generation of boxers show their skills

Date: Tue 14th April 2015
Two young St Marys boxers were in action in Milton Keynes last Saturday night (Dec 6th 2014). Both were matchedin skills bouts (no decisions given), where youngsters are given a taste of the crowd, referee etc without the added pressure of winning or losing. Eleven year old Chatham schoolgirl Amy Mc Donald stepped into the ring for her first skills bout and was matched against local girl D.Warren (Blechley). Despite Warren being an awkward southpaw, Amy showed her skills and was able to work her opponent out well and landed enough straight right hands through Warrens guard to put the Blechley boxer on the back foot several times. Ten year old Ted Murphy also was up against a local boxer in J. Smith (Blechley) but despite conceding height and reach, Murphy was able to use his skills to compete with the Bletchley boxer and land several good right hooks. Although no decisions were announced, these skilful performances showed that St Marys ABC could have a couple of prospects for the future.
