Over the years, popularity and demand for St Mary’s Amateur Boxing Club has increased. This demand has seen us need to move from the old premises behind Chatham Town Hall to our current site in Street End Road in Chatham.
Having been at our current site for nearly 70 years and the premises being put under the hammer at an auction on Monday, July 25 2011, it is time to find other premises. Unfortunately, we are currently short of our target so we are actively looking for sponsors and people looking to help fund our move.
We have been providing Medway in training thousands of boxers for 90 years, some of whom have gone on to fight at world and national level & others who have become professional boxers. We play an important role in giving young people in the area a chance to try something new and focus on something outside of there day to day roles & responsibilities.
St Mary's has produced countless national and regional amateur champions ove the years, a few years back we had 17 Kent champions at one time, and currently (2016) we have 4 national junior champions.
In 2012 we formed our committee, become a Charity, archived ClubMark Standard, Young Daniel Woledge won the Medway Try Angle Sports Award and was selected to train with Team GB, Hosted the Egyptian Olympic Boxing Team & were put forward for Junior Club of the Year 2012.
We are looking for support in the way of funds to help continue our success and help fund the future of our club. Any funding help that can be put towards our move would be greatly appreciated and would allow us to continue the good work we have been doing for the last 90 years.
If you would like to talk to a member of our committee about possible funding or support, you can come and see us at our club at 1 Street End Road, Chatham Kent ME5 0BS. We are open on Monday, Wednesday 6.00 p.m to 8.30 p.m , Friday 6 p.m to 7.30 p.m & Saturdays 9.30-11.30am.
