CYP Quarter finals 2013

Date: Sun 3rd November 2013

Danny Woledge was competing in the National quarter finals of the CYP championships on Sunday 27th at Merlins Complex, Leysdown Kent. His apponent was Tey-Lynn Jones from Essex club Tilbury Dockers, who came with a reputation of being a strong fighter. In the first round Dan got off to a good start and both boxers were very busy with a high volume of punches being thrown. They both came out for the second very aggressively and landed some very heavy blows for the first half of the round, during the exchange Dan was caught and looked hurt which meant the referee gave him a standing count. Dan quickly composed himself and boxed well for the remainder of the round, counterpunching from a tight guard. In the last round Dan utilised his jab very effectively and scoring very high with no return from the Tilbury boxer, this lead to the unanimous decision going to Dan and moving through to the next round.

Coach Dan Woledge Snr said “it was a very entertaining bout for the crowd especially the second round when Jones came out fighting, I was pleased with the way Dan composed himself and boxed clever to get the decision”
