Three St Mary's boys box in Essex

Date: Tue 8th November 2016

Saturday 29th October Rayleigh Essex

Three Junior St Mary's boxers had their debut bouts on this Essex show, two having their fist skills bouts, one having his first decision bout.

First up was George Evans having his first skills. George started slowly but grew quickly into the bout, using his speed on the outside to outbox his opponent who was also having his first skills. George showed good hand and foot speed and a good punch selection throughout, and is surely one to watch for the future if he keeps working hard.

Next up was George Dawson. George started quickly, and dominated his Brentwood abc opponent from the off. George immediately judged the range correctly and worked to the body and head very effectively, showing a good mature approach to the bout. George rocked his opponent on several occassions and boxed beautifully.

Callum Boden was next up, having his first decision bout after previously having had 5 skills for St Mary's. Callums opponent was L Spinks from Canvey Island abc. Callum started fast, pressurising his opponent from the first bell, going straight for the  body, and he drew gasps from the crowd twice with excellent combinations that jolted his opponents head back. Callum dominated his opponent and clearly won on points, although he was only awarded a split decision win- again one to watch for the future.

Well done to the above boxers on an excellent showing.
