25 year old St Marys female boxer Louise Orton has been picked to represent England against Sweden in Basingstoke on Friday night (10th). The 60kg boxer has been rewarded for making the final of last years Elite senior ABA championships and her three stage GB trial. Orton will get an answer on whether she has made the GB team in the coming weeks. Only downside is that Orton will have to miss the opportunity of boxing in front of her home crowd as St Marys stage their final open show of the season at Lordswood leisure centre this Sat evening (11TH March). However, she will be on hand to cheer on her teammates. 15 local boxers are set to be in action, ranging from novice juniors, to open class seniors boxing for Southern counties belts. Doors open at 6pm, with Boxing starting at 7pm. Tickets are available on the door at £15 for Adults and £7 for under 17’s.
