Date: Tue 14th May 2019

3rd time lucky for this St Mary’s boxer Harley Hartnup , Boxing on the prince of Wales abc show in Canterbury 03/05/19 he lost his first two bouts but came back to the gym to continue working hard to gain his first unanimous win. Also on the bill was Jaylen Howell, who put his undefeated record on the line in his 6th bout. In a close contest, the judges awarded to Howells opponent a points decision. Howell still has lots to work on and hopes this will be good preparation for when he competes in the prestigious Hull box cup in June.  

 

On Sunday, Johnny Powell defeated A. Hart (Hoddesdon abc) in the schools cadets pre quarter finals in Reading in a tight affair, the judges awarded Powell the win and a place into this weekends National quarter final. After losing his first bout, Powell has now won 6 bouts in a row and now takes on the Eastern counties champion in Suffork. Powel is hoping to join 3 club mates Jesse Harris, Tyrone Clarke and Emma Simmons, who are already through to the semis/finals weekend, as there are no suitable opponents at their age or weight
