Kent Schoolboy Championships 2014

St Mary's were in Ramsgate for the first round of the National Schoolboy Championship. 
Although seven were entered, Charlie Hickford had to withdraw due to illness. 
The remaining six boxers weighed in, but due to lack of opposition in there respective weight classes five were awarded byes to the next stage. 
Dominic Nugent was drawn with Isle of Thanets Nathan Leahy in a class A under 37kg bout. 
Both boys new a loss would mean exit from the competition, and both worked well throughout the three rounds.
 Dominic was landing the stronger shots, but the slick counterpunching from Leahy saw the judges decision go to the Isle of Thanet boxer. 
The next round will be a Kent v Surrey clash in Camberly on Saturday 1st March.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Lewis Southgate.
 
In a surporting bout St Mary's boxer Lewis Southgate faced off against Tommy Lee from Chelmsford abc. 

Lewis put on a fantastic performance, wining by a unanimous decision, and making it 8 wins from his last 8 bouts.
